The only decent DMX servo driver I know in (generically) "North America" is the Northlight systems unit, which I can personally recommend as a happy user.
Milford Instruments do DMX servo driver which many people speak well of, they may have a distri in your part of the world.

Howdy all.
If anyone out there knows of a good Canadian supplier, there's a killer strong coffee in it for you! In all seriosity.... I'm hunting for a dmx servo control board I have a u.s. Website, but The idea of dropping another 20$ on delivery makes me a bit sick in my mouth. I was surprised not to find anything in e-sonic.com! So if you have a good dmx component contact in Canada I would appreciate it! Thanx for any info Dunkus |

Introduce something new to you guys.
There are simple chips for you to make a DMX512 compatible LED light. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOHUceuDaEw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbOaI4xqn9g http://www.my-semi.com/content/news/news_mean.aspx?id=14 |

Hey everybody! I'm just a newcomer who has some questions, and would like some advice or any other suggestions from you seasoned dmx veterans out there!!!
I'm trying to experiment with different designs of LED configurations in grid like patterns and structures. I don't want to only plug and play, I want create, innovate and create new programs for LED display boards. Here is what I have been using as of lately. I have been using the "processing" programming language and arduino boards on some small scale LED applications. But I'd like to go bigger and bolder with LED panels, and other hardware. So I am wondering what combination of platforms are the best for experimentation or further development. Thanks to everyone in advance for your creative input. Also is this Wikipedia sentence accurate? "Consequently, it is strongly discouraged[who?] for use in safety-critical applications such as controlling pyrotechnics or laser lighting displays, where audience or performer safety is at risk." |

There is no restrictions on the phases that dimmers and controllers on.

I have a Stage line DMX lighting controller which is controlling 2 Trancension 12 channel dimmer packs. The supply to the dimmers is on a differently phase to the controller. This doesn't seem right to me but any input would be appreciated.

I've seen both the controllers you mentioned used by the Christmas light guys, but I think you need something with more channels, look at the DMX-32 from Celestial Electronics. (Theres also lots of LED lighting links here)
I dont have any real suggestions as to what fixtures to use, other than to note that stage lighting LED products are now getting to the point where they can do decent whites, and whites have always been an issue for LEDs, and I think your comment about colour temperature indicates you're onto this particular issue. Problem is that decent stage lighting LED products are expensive. |

I plan for building a house and want to automate it using KNX. Thing is, I want to have lots and lots of led lighting in the house. Downlights in most rooms, but also tv-lights on the side of the tv's, rgd led lighting for the trees in the garden and so on. I will try to use led wherever I can accept the light temperature and light power of it. I also want to be able to dim everything
Someone suggested that I use DMX for this. I don't know anything about it yet, but I've seen there are lots of modules with many channels for led dimming. Can anyone help me in taking out a good system for my use I will use lightswitches connected to KNX and then a gateway between DMX and KNX. The computer control will be through LinuxMCE. What type of LED downlights do you suggest? Watts, type and distance in between? I would like it to have a color temperature of 3000 or less if it's possible. The areas I want downlights in are: Living room (tiltable close to the walls for lighting up the walls - lower effect maybe, or?), Master bedroom (also a row that is tiltable for the wardrobes here), Kitchen (Both in ceiling and under the overhead-dressers), in a clothes closet, and in bathrooms.. Is this anything to consider? http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/368870913-DMX-Module-decoder-for-Led-light-DC12V-input-MAX-output-current-12A-wholesalers.html I will try to have a central installation if it's possible. Are there any rack mountable big modules with lots of led dimmers that is affordable per channel? Or is it not worth it compared to this 4 channel modules I've found: http://cgi.ebay.de/DMX-512-Dimmer-Controller-4-Channels-for-LED-Light-Lamp-/160550908895?pt=UK_BOI_Industrial_Automation_Control_ET&hash=item25619473df I'm grateful for any help I can get ![]() rgds, Christian What module/s do you suggest |

Thanks Colby
I finally managed to make it work. I am now trying to design a power socket which can swicth off power totally to a load (e.g. a tV set when it is left in standby for 5 min or more) |

I want to see more updates of that work. The simple LED light is one of the nicest light. It is such a good thing to be learned.
