Title: DMX512 to RS485
Post by: mtnmbs on September 08, 2007, 09:26:44 PM
Hi,

I am looking to use RS485 Interface HW to transport DMX512. Problem is, almost all of the RS485 interface HW runs at 230Kbps data rate (one of many options, but the only close to 250K), where DMX wants 250kbps. I realize that DMX512 uses RS485 signaling, but So far, I have not been able to find anything off the shelf which will accomodate RS485 at 250K Data Rate. Can anybody enlighten me with knowledge or experience in this area?
Thanks

If you are talking about standard serial cards, then if you can't set the UART baud rate divisor to the exact number you need, then what you can do is change the crystal to a nice round number or MHz, and then use an appropriate UART divisor ratio.
