Title: DMX Standards
Post by: broadcast_techie on November 07, 2006, 08:59:08 PM
Hi, I'm looking to compile a section on my college's wiki collecting together various standards documents. I'm looking for where to find such info on DMX512. I appreciate the IEEE publish such documents, but they like paying and am not sure they'd be too happy about me freely distributing their info.
Any help / pointers / contacts appreciated.
This is all for academic use and is not commercial in any way.

Yep, the various standards bodies would be most unhappy if you were to republish their standards freely.  This doesnt just apply the the (now current) DMX512-A standard, but any standard, for example, ANSI, ETSI or BS.

I iknow that some of the standards bodies have "special arrangments" for acedemic use, but such usage would not be permitted on the open internet, it used to be done on CD-ROM in the library, but I'm sure there's an intranet-possible approach.

Talk to the standards bodies, no matter how painful :)

from discussions on the blue room I've decided to give up... will have a look for general advice instead.
